Our Story

Hi, I’m Lelde Mother of Two — and welcome to Tetbury Cakes.

The cake I make is more than just dessert. It’s a piece of my heritage: a traditional Latvian Honey Cake (Medus Kūka) made from a family recipe that’s been passed down for over a century — long before my grandmother, and lovingly kept alive through generations of women in my family.

Now I bake it here in the Cotswolds, using the same method and care my ancestors did. Thin layers of soft, honey-rich sponge are gently stacked with a light cream filling — simple, honest ingredients that come together in something truly special.

In Latvia, this cake marked life’s most meaningful moments: weddings, birthdays, and quiet evenings with family. Tetbury Cakes is my way of keeping that tradition alive — and sharing it with you.
